Goa has witnessed a tourism boom in the first half of 2025, recording a staggering 54.55 lakh tourist arrivals, with 95% of them being domestic travellers. January emerged as the busiest month, attracting over 10.5 lakh visitors, followed by strong numbers in February and March. Despite the typically low summer season, the months of April, May, and June also reported consistent inflows, reinforcing Goa’s reputation as a year-round destination.
The Goa Tourism Department credited this growth to strategic planning, including aggressive promotional campaigns in India and abroad, as well as active participation in travel exhibitions. Additionally, the innovative “Regenerative Tourism” campaign has helped shift perceptions, positioning Goa as more than just a beach getaway. Instead, it’s being reimagined as a place for heritage walks, wellness retreats, and hinterland experiences.
Goa’s Director of Tourism, Kedar Naik, noted that the spike in footfalls has been seen across all segments, including solo travellers, families, group tours, and FITs (Free Independent Travellers). He emphasised that the increase was not just quantitative but also qualitative, drawing in a broader demographic of travellers seeking immersive and sustainable experiences.
Looking ahead, the state plans to continue building on this momentum. Tourism officials are exploring partnerships, improving infrastructure, and adding fresh experiences to the Goa travel portfolio. With the “Regenerative Tourism” model at its core, the aim is to ensure long-term sustainability while offering diverse attractions to both domestic and international audiences.
