Misbehaviour with tourists now cognisable offence In Rajasthan

Misbehaviour with tourists will now be a cognisable offence in Rajasthan and a non-bailable one if repeated.

An amendment bill was passed in the state assembly on September 13 night to insert a new section 27-A in the Rajasthan Tourism Trade (Facilitation and Regulation) Act, 2010.

The house passed the Rajasthan Tourism Trade (Facilitation and Regulation) Amendment Bill, 2021 with a voice vote.

Tourism is one of the key industries in Rajasthan which is visited by lakhs of domestic and foreign tourists every year. However, the visitors often face problems due to touts, illegal vendors and undesirable elements.

According to the section 27-A, “All the offences punishable under the Act shall be cognisable and bailable: provided that the offences punishable under subsection (3) and sub-section (4) of section 13 of the Act shall be cognisable and non-bailable.”

Section 13 (3) says whoever commits subsequent offence of touting shall be arrested without warrant by police and, on conviction, be punished with rigorous imprisonment of up to three years or fine of up to INR 30,000 or both.

While 13 (4) says whoever, habitually engages in the practice of touting even after having been punished more than once, shall be arrested without warrant by police and punished on conviction with rigorous imprisonment of up to seven years or a fine up to ₹ 1 lakh or both.

Participating in a debate on the bill, Minister of State for Tourism Govind Singh Dotasra said the legislation was brought in 2010 to boost tourism and prevent misbehaviour with tourists.

However, as it was not mentioned whether the offence was bailable or non-bailable, it had to be amended, he said. (Source NDTV)

Rajasthan ties up with Incredible India to promote tourism

The Rajasthan Tourism Department has joined hands with Incredible India, the Centre’s official tourism handle, to promote tourism in the state. This is a one-of-a-kind collaboration that seeks to promote a state on a large scale and reach out to maximum people. The collaboration will emphasise domestic tourism and align it to various aspects of Rajasthan.

Incredible India uploaded the first collaborative post that highlighted Rajasthan’s scenic destinations, including the monsoon destinations in south Rajasthan such as Banswara, Udaipur, and Mount Abu.

The next collaborative posts will offer details of lesser-known destinations, Rajasthani cuisine, dance forms, and spiritual journeys/circuit. The collaboration will also focus on culture.

Nishant Jain, Director, Rajasthan Tourism, said they were looking forward to more initiatives, apart from such collaborations, to promote the state’s tourism industry.

The state government has already taken various steps to promote tourism in Rajasthan, especially after the outbreak of Covid-19 crippled the sector.

Rajasthan Tourism has tied up with UNESCO to unleash the potential of the state’s cultural heritage. It is setting up 10 cultural tourism hubs in western Rajasthan’s Barmer, Jaisalmer, Bikaner, and Jodhpur districts using the ‘Art of Life’ methodology.

The tourism department has also tied up with Skyline Services for special helicopter services. In the first phase, the rides will function on the Kumbhalgarh and Nathdwara route. Depending on its success, the government will look to launch similar services between Udaipur and Rajsamand.

The state government is attempting to realign Rajasthan’s tourism industry following the second Covid-19 wave with the helicopter service. The recreational transport facility will offer tourists a novel experience while travelling from Kumbhalgarh and Nathdwara. The entire distance will be covered in 10 minutes. The journey from Kumbhalgarh’s Kumbha Mahal Heritage Resort will cost Rs 4,999, while a visit to the Shiva temple in Nathdwara will cost INR 3,999. (Source FE)

Rajasthan to be promoted as adventure & monsoon destination

The desert state of Rajasthan, known across the globe for its palaces and forts, will now be promoted as an adventure and monsoon destination, confirmed the Rajasthan Tourism officials.
Till date, tourists have been visiting the state to see the beautiful forts, magnanimous palaces, sand and forest. However, not many people know that the state has many destinations which turn pristine during the monsoon. These include Banswara and Udaipur.

While Banswara is a 100-island town with river, hills, islands and lovely landscape, Udaipur too has attractive lakes and lush green surroundings which turn beautiful during monsoons. Hence, we will promote both these destinations as monsoon destinations among tourists, said these officials while talking to IANS.

Besides these, the state shall also be promoted as adventure tourism destination.

“Most of the tourists visit Himachal and Uttarakhand to get that adrenaline rush. Not many are aware of adventure activities being run here. So next in focus is to promote adventure tourism,” the officials added.
The Covid-19 impact has deeply affected the tourist state of Rajasthan and the government is hence trying to promote tourism among the domestic travellers. (Source: IANS)
