Home Minister inaugurates museum and sports complex in Vadnagar, Gujarat

 

Union Home Minister Amit Shah inaugurated an Archaeological Experiential Museum and a sports complex in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s hometown, Vadnagar, Gujarat, on Thursday. The event, part of Shah’s three-day Gujarat visit, also featured the release of a film chronicling PM Modi’s journey.

Spread across 12,500 square metres and built at a cost of INR 298 crore, the Archaeological Experiential Museum highlights Vadnagar’s 2,500-year-old cultural heritage. The first-of-its-kind museum in India offers an immersive experience of archaeological sites, showcasing over 5,000 artefacts, including coins, tools, ornaments, and organic materials. Visitors can explore nine thematic galleries and view excavation remains through a specially designed walkway.

The Union minister also inaugurated a INR 33.50 crore taluka-level sports complex in Vadnagar. Spanning 34,235 square metres, it features a multi-purpose indoor hall for various sports and a 200-bed hostel accommodating 100 boys and 100 girls. Additionally, the Prerna Complex, which includes the renovated primary school where PM Modi studied, was unveiled. This INR 72 crore project blends education and moral values with advanced technology to inspire future generations.

Vadnagar, known for its historical significance and landmarks like the Kirti Toran and Sharmistha Lake, continues to draw attention for its rich heritage. The newly inaugurated facilities aim to promote cultural pride, sports, and education, offering transformative experiences to visitors and students nationwide.

MoD, DGCA approve original site for Purandar Airport

The Ministry of Defence (MoD) and the Directorate General of Civic Aviation (DGCA) have approved the proposed airport at the original site in Purandar, Pune, clearing all technical hurdles for the project, said MoS Civil Aviation Murlidhar Mohol.

According to Mohol, while MoD gave the green signal in May 2024, he got to know about DGCA approval for airport project on Saturday morning, reports Hindustan Times.

“With the approvals, about 99 per cent technical issues related to the proposed airport has been addressed and the next step is land acquisition,” he said, adding that he will take it up with the Airports Authority of India (AAI), DGCA, and Maharashtra Airport Development Company (MADC).

On the Pune airport runway expansion and starting of new terminal, Mohol said that Union Home Minister Amit Shah has already cleared Central Industrial Security Force’s (CISF) proposal to allot 241 personnel for the new terminal building.

“For bigger aircraft of D and E type to fly from Pune airport, we need to expand the runway for which 35 acres is needed. Plan will be made to allocate fund for land acquisition from the state government, Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA), Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad municipal corporations,” he said.

While C-type aircraft have size between 24 to 36 metres, D is 36-52 metre and E in the range of 52 to 65 metres.
Mohol said, “The launch of new terminal building was awaited due to approval for CISF personnel. Amit Shah has assured me to allot manpower at the earliest.”

 

Fortunate to be made MoS for Civil Aviation: Murlidhar Mohol

Pune MP Murlidhar Mohol, who was appointed Minister of State for Civil Aviation and Cooperation in the Narendra Modi government on Monday, said he was fortunate to be given the responsibility of two such important portfolios.

“Getting an opportunity to work under Amit Shah in the Cooperation Ministry is the happiest moment for me. I represent Maharashtra which has a big network of cooperative sectors. Cooperative sector is a medium to reach out to the last man in the society and make the lives of people better,” he said.

Talking about civil aviation, Mohol said Prime Minister Narendra Modi had transformed the airports of the country during his rule and had focussed on providing good amenities to flyers.

“I will be able to do effective work for Navi Mumbai Airport, Purandar Airport and Pune Airport and many others in the country,” the first time MP asserted. (Source: PTI)

Ayush Visa launched for foreigners seeking treatment under Indian medicine systems

The Government of India yesterday launched the Ayush Visa, a newly created category created for foreign nationals looking to receive medical treatment here through traditional Indian systems of medicine.

The introduction of this visa category fulfils the proposal to create a special visa scheme that allows foreigners to visit India exclusively for therapeutic care, wellness, and Yoga treatments under Ayush systems and other Indian systems of medicine, the government said.

A new chapter, Chapter 11A, titled “Ayush Visa” has been updated in the Visa manual. This chapter focuses on treatment under the Indian systems of medicine, and it has been introduced after the existing Chapter 11 – Medical visa. Amendments have been made to various chapters of the Visa Manual, 2019, to accommodate this new visa category, the Ayush ministry said in a statement.

According to Sarbananda Sonowal, Union Minister of Ayush and Ports, Shipping & Waterways, this move will have a positive impact on medical value travel in India. The initiative aligns with their vision of promoting Indian traditional medicine on a global scale, he added.
Sonowal, said, “The creation of a new category of Ayush Visa for foreign nationals seeking treatment under Ayush systems/Indian systems of medicine is a significant step. It will boost Medical Value Travel in India. This initiative will strengthen our endeavour to accomplish Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision for making Indian traditional medicine a global phenomenon. I also want to compliment Shri Amit Shah, Union Home Minister, GoI for his efforts in creating a special Ayush Visa category.”

The Ministry of Ayush in the statement said the introduction of Ayush Visa category is part of the country’s roadmap for the Heal in India initiative.

 

Home Minister directs authorities to provide quick & safe travel experience to flyers

Home Minister Amit Shah and Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia reviewed the facilities and infrastructure of the country’s major airports and directed all concerned authorities to develop and provide standards for quick, safe and convenient travel experience of the travellers.

A Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) spokesperson said the MHA, Ministry of Civil Aviation (MoCA) and other agencies have embarked upon a series of steps towards expanding and enhancing the facilities and infrastructure at major airports.

“Home Minister Shri @AmitShah and Minister for Civil Aviation Shri @JM_Scindia reviewed the facilities & infrastructure for major airports. The meeting aimed to address requirements arising out of fast growing domestic and international aviation mobility in the country,” the spokesperson tweeted. In the meeting directions were given to develop and provide standards for quick, safe and convenient travel experience of the travellers.

Union Home Secretary Ajay Bhalla and other top officials of MoCA, Intelligence Bureau, Bureau of Immigration, Bureau of Civil Aviation Security, Central Industrial Security Force, and Airports Authority of India attended the meeting. The government has been taking various measures to boost infrastructure and manpower at airports, including at Delhi airport, amid rising domestic air passenger traffic.
“Met Union Minister of Home Affairs & Cooperation Shri @AmitShah Ji, along with AAI, CISF, BCAS & Immigration officials to review the plan for capacity and manpower expansion at certain airports,” Scindia said in a tweet.

 

He also said, “We are committed to ensuring smooth processing of air passengers in the upcoming peak travel season.” Domestic air passenger traffic grew nearly 19 per cent to around 1.25 crore in June compared to the year-ago period. According to the latest official data, domestic carriers flew 124.87 lakh people in June.

Home Minister lays foundation stone for new terminal at MP’s Gwalior airport

In a ceremony attended by senior ministers of the Union and Madhya Pradesh government, Union Home Minister Amit Shah laid the foundation stone for the development of a new terminal of Gwalior airport. The Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Union Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar and Union Minister of Civil Aviation Jyotiraditya M Scindia were also present on the occasion with other ministers from the cabinet of Madhya Pradesh, reports Mint.

“Rajmata Vijayaraje Scindia Airport in Gwalior is one of the most modern airports with the latest facilities. With the dedication with which this airport has been carefully planned, I think it will be one of the best airports in the country,” Shah said.
“Under the leadership of PM Modi, there has been a huge development of infrastructure in the country. Earlier 375 km of the railway line was laid in one year, today 1,458 km is being laid”, Shah added.

The new terminal building of Gwalior Civil Enclave will be 20,000 square meters in size, which is six times larger than the existing terminal. The terminal will be equipped with four passenger boarding bridges and will be able to process 1400 passengers during peak hours, with an annual handling capacity of 1.5 million.

“Keeping in view the increasing passenger footfall at Gwalior Airport, the Airports Authority of India has undertaken the expansion work of Rajmata Vijayaraje Scindia Terminal of Gwalior Airport at a cost of INR 450 crore. The expansion project includes the construction of the new terminal building with all modern facilities and upgradation of airside facilities,” the Airports Authority of India (AAI) said in a statement.

According to the AAI, the newly developed terminal will have space for nine Airbus-320 and four ATR-72 aircraft.
“The development of a new terminal of the airport will give impetus to the tourism industry of the region and generate new employment opportunities. The city also has great potential as it is emerging as a regional education hub attracting thousands of students every year. Gwalior is also one of the 100 cities selected to be developed as Smart Cities,” the AAI said.
