State of Unity welcomes 16 crore visitors since inauguration

The Statue of Unity in Gujarat has witnessed a record surge in its annual footfall. In less than five years since its inauguration, the monument has welcomed nearly 16 crore visitors.

In the first two months after the monument’s inauguration – the Statue of Unity was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Patel’s 143rd birth anniversary on October 31, 2018 – the world’s tallest statue witnessed a whopping 453,020 visitors, followed by over 2.7 crore visitors in 2019.

Even in 2020, the year tourism sector was battered by a once-in-a-century pandemic and subsequent movement restrictions, nearly 1.3 crore tourists flocked to the Statue of Unity. While the country was still recovering from the Covid-19 pandemic, the Statue of Unity saw a footfall of over 3.4 crores in 2021.

Last year saw highest to date footfall with 4.3 crore visitors and 2023 has already recorded 3.6 crore footfall with more than two months still to go.
