Railways to launch Vande Metro trains next month

Indian Railways will soon introduce Vande Metro trains to connect cities 100 to 200 kilometers apart, announced Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw. Two trains have successfully passed all required tests, with the first Vande Metro train set to launch next month. Full-scale production is expected to start within 18 months, with multiple trains delivered monthly thereafter.

Building on the success of Vande Bharat trains, Indian Railways reached a significant milestone on August 3, when Southern Railway conducted a trial run of a new Vande Metro rake in Chennai.

Addressing concerns about food quality, Vaishnaw stated that the Railways serves 12 to 13 lakh meals daily, with only 0.01% of complaints related to food quality. He assured that stringent actions are taken against caterers and suppliers involved in any complaints.

The Minister also criticised the previous Congress-led government for neglecting and politicising Railways, stating that the current government is implementing the necessary structural changes that should have been done years ago.
