G Adventures and Planeterra will co-host the GX World Community Tourism Summit from September 24 to 28, with the Ministry of Tourism’s Incredible India as the headline sponsor. The event will offer attendees a chance to experience community-based tourism projects, including hands-on sessions at the Planeterra Marketplace.
One of the featured initiatives is Pink City Rickshaw, which empowers women from low-income households in Jaipur by providing them with sustainable livelihoods as e-rickshaw drivers. Travellers can explore iconic landmarks like Hawa Mahal through this eco-friendly, personal tour experience.
Another new initiative, Anoothi India, offers a textile workshop led by women from marginalized communities in Jaipur, giving travellers the chance to interact with artisans, observe intricate techniques, and purchase handcrafted products. Additionally, Sheroes’ Hangout in Agra supports acid attack survivors, while Sunder Rang in Chandelao provides a platform for rural women to showcase traditional crafts.
These initiatives join long-standing projects like Women With Wheels’ airport transfers and Salaam Baalak Trust’s Delhi City Walk, which empower marginalised groups through tourism. Bruce Poon Tip, founder of G Adventures and Planeterra, expressed his excitement about collaborating with Incredible India to support community tourism that enriches local lives and travellers’ experiences.
