Hopeful of closing the year with 700,000 visitors from India, a growth of 18%
At the ongoing ‘Destination Britain Middle East and Asia’ trade mission in Benglauru, Patricia Yates, CEO, VisitBritain, said that they are keen to promote regional Britain beyond London in the Indian market.
Talking to TravelBiz Monitor, she said, “Traditionally, London is very well known, and is the jewel in the crown, and we are happy to welcome visitors to London. However, we also want to encourage visitors to explore regional Britain, and part of doing that is working with the travel trade in India. This will allow us to showcase the products available, and help them contract and build itineraries that will help them sell efficiently.”
Thirty-seven British suppliers, including from New Castle, Wales, Northern Island, are showcasing the country at this trade show. Yates said, “Most of our exhibitors at this showcase are from outside London. We want to show what the experiences are and how to design them.”
Moreover, the roadshow is seeing buyers from India, GCC and North Asia (Japan & Korea) congregate in Bengaluru for this showcase.
She went on to say that, “We are looking at closing the year with 700,000 Indian visitors that will be an annual increase of 18%. Along side expansion of air access, there is economic stability and immense growth prospects that we see from India.”
