Tourism Ministry’s most innovative programme to promote Incredible India abroad using the influence of Indian diaspora settled in different countries of the world didn’t elicit expected results.
As per a written response given by Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, Union Tourism and Culture minister to a question in the ongoing winter session of the parliament , only 30 visas have been issued so far under the Chalo India Global Diaspora programme of the government.
The Chalo India initiative was launched by the Ministry of Tourism for members of the Indian diaspora to become Incredible India ambassadors by encouraging their Non-Indian friends to visit India and explore India’s tourism landmarks and experience its culture.
The ‘Chalo India Global Diaspora Campaign’ was launched with much fanfare by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on March 7, 2024, in Srinagar.
