The Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra has requested devotees living near Ayodhya to delay their visits by 15-20 days. This appeal aims to prioritise devotees travelling from distant locations during the current influx of pilgrims. The surge coincides with the Maha Kumbh in Prayagraj, which began on January 26, and the upcoming Mauni Amavasya snan on January 29, further increasing the crowd pressure.
Ayodhya, along with other holy cities like Varanasi, has been overwhelmed by an unprecedented number of devotees. Champat Rai, chairman of the Ram Temple Trust, acknowledged the challenges posed by the large influx, highlighting the limited capacity of Ayodhya Dham to manage such volumes. To prevent any untoward incidents, he emphasised the need for systematic adjustments to manage the rush effectively.
Through a public statement, the Trust encouraged devotees from nearby areas to visit after February 2, following Basant Panchami. Rai noted that this postponement would ensure a smoother darshan experience for pilgrims from afar and provide convenience for all. The Trust also pointed out that the weather will be more favorable for visitors during that time.
The Mauni Amavasya snan in Prayagraj is expected to draw approximately 10 crore pilgrims on January 29. Many are anticipated to head to Ayodhya afterward, further straining the city’s resources. By deferring visits, nearby devotees can contribute to a more manageable and peaceful pilgrimage for everyone involved.
