Indian Hotels Company (IHCL) has announced the signing of a Taj-branded hotel in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh. The hotel is a greenfield project.
Puneet Chhatwal, Managing Director & Chief Executive Officer, IHCL, stated that Kanpur’s recent inclusion among India’s smart cities, coupled with significant infrastructural advancements, is providing a fillip to the city’s hospitality landscape. He added that this signing signifies IHCL’s strategic focus on expanding its portfolio in emerging markets with strong growth potential, and the company is delighted to partner with JK Urbanscapes for this venture.
The 150-key hotel is strategically located in the heart of the city. It will feature an all-day dining, a bar, two specialty restaurants, and a J Wellness Circlespa. Additionally, the hotel will boast over 10,000 sq. ft. of banqueting space, providing versatile event spaces.
Abhishek Singhania, Chairman, JK Urbanscapes Developers Limited, expressed excitement about partnering with IHCL to bring the iconic Taj brand to Kanpur. He stated that the hotel will serve as a symbol of the city’s transformation, reflecting its growing commercial significance in the state.
With the addition of this hotel, IHCL will have 26 hotels in Uttar Pradesh, including 13 under development.
