IndiGo to start Delhi-Belagavi flights from Oct 5

IndiGo has launched daily direct connections from Delhi to Belgaum starting from October 5.

The airline said it will run two flights, one going from Delhi to Belgaum at 3:45 pm, and other back from Belgaum to Delhi at 6:35 pm.

This new endeavour is to establish smooth connectivity between northern and southern India, IndiGo said in the statement.

The statement also says that being the oldest airport in north Karnataka, this connectivity will increase regional connectivity and provide an option of business as well as leisure travel in the area.

Vinay Malhotra, Head of Sales, IndiGo, said, “These flights are being introduced to cater to business and leisure travelers seeking new and affordable flying options to access destinations.”

IndiGo commences daily direct flights to Abu Dhabi and Jeddah from Ahmedabad

IndiGo has started two new daily direct flights from Ahmedabad-Abu Dhabi and Ahmedabad-Jeddah from August 11, 2023. These strategically planned routes mark yet another milestone in IndiGo’s journey in enhancing international connectivity and meeting the escalating demand for seamless travel experiences.

DGCA issues license for Utkela airport in Odisha to start flights

The Director General Civil Aviation Monday (DGCA) has said it has issued the license for Utkela airport in Odisha’s Kalahandi district to start flight operations.

Utkela airport, 15 km from the district headquarters of Bhawanipatna, is among the airstrips that have been listed under the regional connectivity scheme UDAN.

This license from Civil Aviation has paved the way for regular flights of commercial aeroplanes from Utkella to Bhubaneswar and Raipur, capitals of Odisha and its neighbour Chhattisgarh respectively.

After Rourkela and Jeypore, the UDAN service will be launched soon in Utkela, an official said adding that initially GSEC Monarch has been given the license to fly nine-seated commercial planes.

Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik welcomed the DGCA’s decision. “Glad to share that #UtkelaAirport in #Kalahandi district has received DGCA license to start flight operation. Soon flight operations will commence to #Bhubaneswar. It will boost connectivity, commerce & tourism, fulfilling aspiration of people of the region,” Patnaik said in a statement posted on X, earlier known as Twitter. (Source: PTI)

India maintains top tourism source market position for Sri Lanka

India has maintained the top spot as a source market for tourism in Sri Lanka. As per data released by the Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority, tourist arrivals from India have crossed 1 lakh 39 thousand in the current year so far. This translates to over 18 per cent market share out of 7.67 lakh tourist arrivals into the island nation. India accounted for 23,461 tourist arrivals in July which was ahead of other countries.

The connectivity between the two countries has improved over the last few months as air travel resumed between Jaffna and Chennai in December last year.

 

Biman Bangladesh Airlines partners with SITA for connectivity solutions

Biman Bangladesh Airlines Ltd. (BG) has partnered with SITA to adopt a suite of state-of-the-art connectivity solutions that will increase network speeds, optimise the airline’s operations, and reduce expansion costs.

SITA Connect Go is a new Secure SD-WAN (Software-Defined Wide Area Network) solution designed specifically for the air transport industry. The solution was developed in partnership with Versa Networks, the recognised secure access service edge (SASE) provider. It offers a software-based solution that allows multiple airlines, ground handlers, and other tenants to digitally transform at whatever pace they choose. Secure access is provided to virtualized applications and infrastructure at airports and in the cloud, delivering more scalable and agile performance.

The deployment will improve the airline’s performance by giving the IT operations team a granular view and full visibility into their network usage and application performance. This will enable better decision-making and critical business application performance. It is all managed through a centralized platform that simplifies network management and orchestration.

SITA Connect solutions will empower BG with an increased bandwidth of up to 600%, enabling unrivaled speed, flexibility, and agility to connect quickly and securely to applications and systems at their town and airport offices. These enhancements have been extended to BG at no additional cost demonstrating a reduction in total cost ownership as BG expands its network.

The deal comes as SITA and BG celebrate 50 years of partnership and will future-proof the airline’s operations for planned growth, ensuring BG is ready to embrace a hybrid cloud environment in the future and add new applications as and when they need to.

IndiGo strengthens its connectivity for domestic and international routes from Kolkata

IndiGo has announced five new flights and additional frequencies to and from Kolkata. These new routes to Bangkok from June 3, 2023, and Surat, Hyderabad w.e.f. July 3, 2023, will further enhance international and domestic connectivity. IndiGo will launch additional frequencies from Kolkata to Bengaluru and Goa from June 26, 2023. These flights will offer flexible options to customers looking to travel to and from the City of Joy, Kolkata this summer.
