Scoot to enhance flight frequency to meet winter demand

Scoot, the low-cost subsidiary of Singapore Airlines (SIA), has announced network adjustments in response to anticipated higher demand during the Northern Winter season. Starting in November 2024, the airline will increase weekly flights to Chiang Mai and Hanoi, boosting services from 10 to 11 times and five to six times weekly, respectively. In December 2024, flights to Perth will rise from 13 to 14 times weekly, while services to Melbourne will increase from 12 to 13 times weekly, and eventually to twice daily in January 2025. Additionally, Scoot will mount three more weekly flights to Seoul (Incheon) via Taipei, making it a daily service. Flights to Tokyo (Narita) via Taipei will also increase from 12 to 14 times weekly.

Within Southeast Asia, Scoot will expand flights to destinations served by the Embraer E190-E2 aircraft. Davao will see an increase from seven to nine times weekly, while Balikpapan and Makassar will each go from three to four weekly flights. This comes as part of Scoot’s strategy to bolster its presence in the region.

Scoot has also recently launched daily services to Subang, Malaysia, from 1 September 2024. The airline will further expand its Southeast Asian network by commencing operations to Kertajati (Greater Bandung), Indonesia, on 28 September 2024, and to Malacca, Malaysia, on 23 October 2024. These new routes reflect Scoot’s commitment to enhancing connectivity within the region.

In line with its network optimisation efforts, Scoot will suspend services to Ningbo, with the last flight scheduled for 26 October 2024. Calvin Chan, Chief Commercial Officer of Scoot, stated, “We are excited to offer more flights to popular destinations in Australia, Japan, and South Korea, catering to increased demand during the holidays. We remain flexible in our aircraft deployment to ensure greater convenience and enjoyable travel for our customers.”
