The announcement by Civil Aviation Minister K Ram Mohan Naidu of plans to establish more than 200 airports in India over the next 20 years reflects the country’s growing focus on strengthening its aviation infrastructure. This ambitious plan is part of a broader vision to accommodate rising passenger demand and enhance regional connectivity, building on the significant increase in the number of airports during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s tenure—from 74 to over 150.
Speaking at the Amaravati Drone Summit 2024, Naidu also emphasized Andhra Pradesh’s role as a leader in drone technology, particularly in disaster management, citing the use of drones in flood relief efforts in Vijayawada. His remarks also highlighted the influence of Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu’s forward-thinking Vision 2020 initiative, which has laid the groundwork for advancements in drone applications across sectors.
With the growing importance of drones in areas such as emergency services and the expansion of airport infrastructure, India’s aviation sector is poised for significant growth, aligning with its aspirations to become a global hub for technological and transportation advancements.
