Meghalaya to invest INR 5000 cr in tourism sector: Conrad Sangma

Chief Minister Conrad Sangma announced during the 2024 convocation of ICFAI University Meghalaya at the Convention Centre in Shillong that the Meghalaya government plans to invest INR 5,000 crore in the tourism sector, expecting to create 50,000 jobs. Additionally, INR 1,500 crore will be allocated to the IT sector with the aim of generating 20,000 jobs.

Sangma urged the youth to embrace upcoming changes, highlighting plans for a service provider to lay submarine cables and establish a three-tier data centre to enhance communication. He emphasized that optical fibers will soon cover every corner of the state, transforming grassroots education, and stressed the importance of job seekers preparing for these evolving opportunities.
