Kempegowda Airport wins seven FAB awards

Bengaluru’s Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) has once again garnered recognition, winning multiple awards across various categories at the prestigious Airport Food & Beverage (FAB) + Hospitality Conference and Awards in Ontario, California, as reported by The Times of India. Operated by Bangalore International Airport Limited (BIAL), KIA secured a total of seven accolades, marking a significant achievement as the first Indian airport to receive such a comprehensive list of honors at this global event.

The FAB Awards are the only international platform dedicated to celebrating excellence in airport food, beverage, and hospitality services, setting a high benchmark for industry standards. Among the highlights of KIA’s success was the ‘Airport Lounge of the Year’ award for its newly launched 080 Domestic Lounge at Terminal 2. This lounge, designed to embody Karnataka’s cultural heritage with a contemporary flair, offers travellers an unparalleled experience.

In addition to this, KIA received the Humanitarian Award for its collaboration with Mitti Cafe, which has made a positive impact by employing people with disabilities through the establishment of the first Airport Mitti Cafes. BIAL’s Chief Commercial Officer, Kenneth Guldbjerg, expressed pride in these achievements, stating, “We are immensely proud to be the first Indian airport lounge to receive such prestigious recognitions at the FAB Awards. The 080 lounge is more than just a space; it’s a journey through Karnataka’s rich cultural landscape, blending traditional elements with modern comfort.”

As India’s third busiest airport, KIA is preparing for an increase in passenger traffic ahead of the upcoming long weekend, including Independence Day. The airport has also launched a new official anthem, a unique Kannada-English composition by three-time Grammy Award winner Ricky Kej.
