The South Western Railway announced the introduction of two new Vande Bharat trains in Karnataka, including one for the Kalyan Karnataka region. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate these trains on March 12, expanding Karnataka’s Vande Bharat train count to seven. The new routes include the Kalaburagi-SMVT Bengaluru-Kalaburagi (Train No. 22231/22232) Vande Bharat Express and an additional service on the Bengaluru-Chennai route via SMVT Bengaluru and Krishnarajapuram.
The Kalaburagi-SMVT Bengaluru (Train No. 22231) Vande Bharat Express will depart from Kalaburagi at 5:15 AM and reach SMVT Bengaluru at 2 PM daily except Fridays, with stops at Raichur, Mantralayam Road, Guntakal, Anantapur, and Yelahanka. Conversely, the SMVT Bengaluru-Kalaburagi (Train No. 22232) Vande Bharat Express will depart from SMVT Bengaluru at 2:40 PM and reach Kalaburagi at 11:30 PM daily except Thursdays.
Additionally, the Mysuru-MGR Chennai (Train No. 20663) Vande Bharat Express will run from Mysuru to MGR Chennai, departing at 6:00 AM and arriving at 12:20 PM daily except Wednesdays, with stops at Mandya, SMVT Bengaluru, Krishnarajapuram, and Katpadi. The return journey, MGR Chennai-Mysuru (Train No. 20664) Vande Bharat Express, will depart from MGR Chennai at 5:00 PM and arrive at Mysuru at 11:20 PM daily except Wednesdays.
Until the maintenance facility at Mysuru is commissioned, the train will operate between SMVT Bengaluru and MGR Chennai Central. Starting April 5, the train will run regularly between Mysuru and MGR Chennai Central. These additions are expected to benefit numerous commuters and significantly reduce travel time.
