Goa tourism thrives amid festive season

Goa’s tourism industry is thriving this festive season, with near-full occupancy reported in four-star and five-star hotels, according to Tourism Minister Rohan Khaunte. Enhanced connectivity through the Manohar International Airport in Mopa and upgraded facilities at Dabolim Airport have significantly boosted tourist inflow, cementing Goa’s reputation as a premier destination for both domestic and international visitors.

The Tourism Minister highlighted the importance of diversifying Goa’s offerings with eco-tourism, spiritual tourism, and regenerative tourism initiatives, ensuring a balance between visitor experiences and community benefits. The ‘Goa Beyond Beaches’ campaign and community-based programs have further showcased the state’s natural and cultural diversity, expanding its appeal beyond its iconic beaches.

In 2024, the state introduced innovative measures, including the Beach Vigil App for safety and cleanliness and the ‘Let’s Goa App’ for seamless trip planning. These initiatives aim to enhance Goa’s attractiveness while preserving its ecosystem.

Despite these successes, some voices on social media pointed out a perceived decline in tourist numbers, raising concerns about transportation issues. However, the state continues to strengthen its tourism offerings, solidifying its place as a vibrant, safe, and welcoming destination for celebrations.
