Brazil is actively working to harness its growing tourism market, with a goal of welcoming up to 10 million annual visitors by 2027.
This initiative comes in response to a notable increase in foreign tourist spending, which reached record levels in the first half of the year.
Sao Paulo, Brazil’s largest city, remains a popular destination, especially for business travellers. However, many visitors also take time to explore the city’s cultural offerings, such as the historic Municipal Market, where international tourists are noted to spend significantly on local fruits and other goods.
Celso Sabino, Brazil’s Minister of Tourism, emphasised the country’s vast potential in an interview with CGTN, noting that Brazil currently receives around six million tourists annually. He believes this number could increase significantly with the right strategies in place. To attract more visitors, particularly from China, Brazil is enhancing its tourism infrastructure and simplifying travel arrangements between the two countries. The efforts include joint tourism promotion agencies and improved flight connections, which allow for easier access between China and Brazil.
Sabino is confident that these initiatives will encourage more Chinese tourists to visit Brazil and enjoy its unique cuisine and vibrant culture. With these measures, Brazil aims to significantly boost its tourism sector, tapping into new markets and enhancing cultural exchanges.
