Bihar to launch Ro-Ro vessels on River Ganga for sailing from Patna & Bhagalpur

Bihar is set to launch two Ro-Ro (Roll-on Roll-off) vessels on the River Ganga. The Patna vessel will begin operations in a week, while the one at Bhagalpur awaiting approval.

The Digha Ghat – JP Ganga Path route will be used by the new Ro-Ro vessel service. This is done to encourage river tourism and to allow locals and visitors to both appreciate the Ganga River’s beauty and the region’s distinctive biodiversity.

The vessel can carry 300 passengers at once and makes four to five voyages each day. With the opportunity to rent the entire ship for private events, those who want to try river cruises can now take advantage of this service.

A jetty is also ready for the Ro-Ro vessel’s operation. The order of Patna’s MV Ganga Vihar, which has been in service since February 2023 for about INR 300 per passenger.
