Ardbeg is launching Ardbeg Spectacular, its first whisky aged in port casks, in India. This limited edition whisky is a spectacle of flavors never before tasted at Ardbeg and is being celebrated with the global first-ever travel retail Ardbeg Day celebrations at Ospree Duty Free in Mumbai on May 31, 2024.
Ardbeg Day is an annual celebration held on the final Saturday of Islay’s Festival of Music and Malt (Fèis Ìle). This year, the Distillery hosted a special event to unveil Ardbeg Spectacular, a unique whisky that combines classic bourbon-matured Ardbeg with port barrels. The result is a rich and smoky whisky with flavors of dark chocolate, mint, candied fruit, incense, and smoked pecans. The whisky’s dark, complex flavors inspired the Distillery to create a “Dark Circus” experience for fans, which will be available through the month of June at Mumbai International Airport.
The Ospree Duty Free celebrations in Mumbai promise an unforgettable peat-soaked experience for travelers, including a chance to win a visit to the Ardbeg Distillery in Scotland. Smriti Sekhsaria, Marketing Director at Moet Hennessy India, expressed excitement at hosting the world’s first-ever Ardbeg Day Travel Retail only celebrations in Mumbai and invited fans to join the “Dark Circus” for a whirlwind of smoky wonder.
Gillian Macdonald, Ardbeg Master Blender, described Ardbeg Spectacular as a “high-flying spirit” that showcases a unique blend of flavors. She invited fans to experience the whisky’s peculiar notes of mint chocolate, incense, lavender, and smoked nuts, set off by a daring double act of salted caramel and tar.
Ardbeg Spectacular is available to buy from Ardbeg Embassies, whisky specialists, online retailers, the Distillery Visitor Centre on Islay, and on Ardbeg.com. In India, it is exclusively available at Ospree Duty Free in Mumbai International Airport and is priced at INR 11,100.
