Air France-KLM, Etihad unveil two-way frequent flyer programme

In a strategic move to enhance the travel experience for their customers, Air France-KLM Group and Etihad Airways have officially launched a comprehensive two-way frequent flyer partnership. The collaboration, stemming from a Memorandum of Understanding signed in September, integrates the loyalty programmes of both airline groups.

Effective immediately, members of Flying Blue, the loyalty program of Air France and KLM, and Etihad Guest, Etihad Airways’ loyalty program, can now seamlessly earn and redeem miles in either program when traveling with Air France, KLM, or Etihad. The reciprocal benefits for elite members, including the potential for mutual lounge access, will be disclosed in the coming announcements.

This strategic partnership, operationalised following Air France’s inaugural flight from Paris Charles de Gaulle to Abu Dhabi International Airport in October 2023, expands the reach for travelers with access to over 60 new routes covering global destinations.

For those eager to accumulate miles, the Etihad Guest website outlines a straightforward process for earning points on KLM/Air France flights, with miles credited to accounts approximately two weeks after the flight date. The redemption of Etihad Guest miles for KLM/Air France flights is based on the usual distance-based chart. Notably, online redemption is not currently available, requiring members to contact the Etihad Guest Service Centre at least 24 hours before departure for redemption.

This dynamic partnership marks a significant step towards a more interconnected and customer-friendly travel experience, offering a broader range of benefits and travel options for loyal members of both Flying Blue and Etihad Guest.
