ETAA’s first ever roadshow brings together 25 exhibitors

The Enterprising Travel Agents Association (ETAA) recently held its inaugural roadshow in Mumbai. The event featured 25 exhibitors from various sectors of the travel and tourism industry.

Jagat Mehta, National Director, ETAA, shared with TravelBiz Monitor that while the event was modest in scale, it provided a more personalised experience for exhibitors and buyers. “We will assess the success of this event, and consider organising similar shows in other cities. If all goes well, we plan to continue this initiative after Diwali,” Mehta said.

Dipti Pradhan Thakur, National Director & Event Head, ETAA, noted that ETAA has a history of connecting industry partners with travel agents and tour operators. “This is our first roadshow, and we have received an excellent response from the industry. Exhibitors range from insurance and loan advisors to DMCs and airlines. We are excited about expanding this initiative to other cities,” Thakur stated.

When asked if the event was exclusive to ETAA members, she clarified, “The event is open to all travel agents in Mumbai, though we have charged a nominal fee for non-ETAA members.”

Dharmesh Advani, National Director, ETAA, commented, “Although this is our first roadshow, we are thrilled with the response. Over 150 agents have committed to attending. Both ETAA and non-ETAA members recognise the value of this platform for interacting with exhibitors. Our goal is to ensure that everyone benefits from the event and increases their revenues,” Advani emphasised.

STB to host multi-city roadshow in India from July 8-12

Scheduled from 8 to 12 July 2024, the roadshow will commence in Chennai, followed by Hyderabad and Kolkata, and will conclude in Ahmedabad. The event features 50 exhibitors representing hotels, attractions, airlines, cruise lines and destination management companies, with seven first-time participants including the Museum of Ice Cream and Disney Cruise Line, which has made Singapore its exclusive Southeast Asian homeport for five years starting next year.

India is a major tourism source market for Singapore, with direct flights from 17 cities within a 4 to 6-hour range. Since the resumption of international travel in 2022, Indian tourists have been drawn to Singapore’s evolving range of offerings. In 2023, many new hotels, attractions, and lifestyle experiences have emerged, offering more activities and venues for India’s travel agents and planners to consider when crafting holiday itineraries, MICE programmes, and wedding celebrations. STB’s global campaign, “Made In Singapore”, showcases the city as a destination of unique and unexpected experiences. In line with this, the 2024 multi-city roadshow is themed “Holidays. Made In Singapore” to equip the Indian travel trade community to promote Singapore as a differentiated destination for various consumer segments.

As part of the B2B roadshow, STB is also hosting two curated business matching platforms between Singapore wedding suppliers and Indian planners in Ahmedabad and Kolkata, important source markets for Indian wedding celebrations. Featuring eight venues, hotels, aviation and cruise partners, and DMCs, these networking events build on STB’s continuing efforts in India to spotlight Singapore’s unique selection of wedding venues and experiences, including a partnership with celebrated couturier Rahul Mishra, and the curation of a Wedding Planner’s Guide to Singapore.

Markus Tan, Regional Director, India, Middle East, South Asia and Africa, Singapore Tourism Board, expressed enthusiasm about the upcoming multi-city roadshows and emphasised the importance of collaboration with the travel trade in enhancing Singapore’s appeal in these regions. From January to May 2024, Singapore has welcomed more than half a million visitors from India, underscoring the country’s importance as a key tourism source market. STB is hopeful that together with its travel stakeholders, it can maintain this growth momentum through the second half of 2024.
