The Rug Republic acquires The Glass Villa Goa, enters the hospitality business with exquisite villas

Floor-fashion brand, The Rug Republic (TRR) has added another feather in its multicoloured hat. It has ventured into the hospitality business with a difference by acquiring the famous Glass Villa in Goa. Surrounded by lush green fields and the sparkling backwaters of Nachinola, The Glass Villa rises from the centre of a 25,000-square-foot plot of land. This luxury home offers a perfect getaway cocoon to those looking to soak in the charms of Goa as it used to be decades ago.

Conceptualised by ace fashion designer Tarun Tahiliani and brought to life by celebrated architect Sameep Padora, the villa was done by Asahi Glass to showcase their architectural glass. The Glass Villa with its unique architecture has a wood and glass facade, laterite walls and sloping exposed concrete ceiling. The four bedrooms have two faces with floor to ceiling glass looking into green spaces. The sunken seating next to the courtyard, and the massive pool side space have stunning views over the fields and back waters. TRR’s home decor items have now taken its overall beauty a notch higher.

This comes at an apt time when the nuanced travellers prefer spacious classy homes over hotels, a trend accentuated by the safety concerns in an ongoing pandemic. With a gorgeous courtyard, huge wooden deck and garden by the surprisingly large pool (25×8m) double-height living room and gorgeous views, once travellers experience staying at the Glass Villa, they will discover a whole new way of a rejuvenating Goan holiday, without the traffic, the crowds and bustle of tourists. One can also go cycling, walking in the nearby village, kayaking in the backwaters of Moira. The culinary experiences offered include delicacies from a French and a Sushi chef on call, and an in-house chef for premium home style food, all of which could be enjoyed alongwith the performance by a musician on call.

A quaint “Cafe Lovie” could be your morning walk destination and fresh grocery, fish, prawns are fun to buy in the village and get cooked to taste by the in-house chef. Airport pick up and drop is offered and a vehicle is available at the villa for the convenience of guests. Custom designed excursions to explore the churches, forts, waterfalls and beaches are possible with the designated cab company from the village itself. Aldona is considered by many as the prettiest village in Goa and home to several celebrity homes tucked away in the greenery. Bollywood folks to Cricket stars have all loved the Glass Villa alike.

Aditya Gupta, the founder of The Rug Republic is an avid world traveller, design enthusiast, Everester and TEDx speaker has hand picked select properties from hundreds he saw over the past one year. Explaining why it was a good time for TRR to enter the hospitality sector, Aditya, its founder, says, “Now, there are organised players in the market that look after the operations and maintenance of such homes. The evolved travellers have also begun to appreciate the charm and privacy of a premium house rentals v/s a hotel room” . Aditya believes that people in search of authentic experiences rather than typical “going out” style of holidaying will make The Glass Villa a destination in itself and will keep returning to experience Goa the Glass Villa way.
Ujjwal Dhawan of Rainforest Talisman who is managing the GV avers that, “The Glass Villa is ideal for the high end traveller interested in Goa outside of its restaurants/clubs/shacks etc. While the buzz of Assagao is just 20min away by car, the verdant charm of Goa is all around Glass Villa. Best of both worlds get combined beautifully at this unique villa which may easily be one the top 5 villas in Goa”.
