Saudi ranks first globally for on-time departure & arrival performance: Cirium

Saudia, the national flag carrier of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, has topped the list of global airlines for on-time performance, according to a report by the independent aviation tracking site Cirium for June 2024.

The report indicates that Saudia achieved an on-time arrival rate of 88.22% and an on-time departure rate of 88.73%, operating 16,133 flights across its network of over 100 destinations on four continents. This achievement is particularly notable given that June is a peak travel month due to the Hajj and summer travel seasons.

His Excellency Engr. Ibrahim Al-Omar, Director General of Saudia Group, highlighted, “This accomplishment is a realization of our strategic goals to enhance operational efficiency and quality through continuous improvements in flight scheduling and the implementation of the best digital solutions and systems for operations management. Maintaining a high level of on-time performance requires significant effort, as it involves overcoming numerous operational challenges in the aviation industry, such as weather conditions, high temperatures, technical issues, and other airport-related factors. I express my gratitude to all Saudia employees for their diligent work in maintaining the national flag carrier’s operational excellence.”

Saudia has consistently been among the top ten global airlines for on-time performance since last year, demonstrating its commitment to providing the highest standards of quality and air safety. Its operations are managed through the largest Integrated Operation Control Center (IOCC) of its kind in the Middle East, which operates within a comprehensive system involving all sectors and group companies. Additionally, the center utilizes the latest technologies for aircraft communications, ensuring smooth operations by monitoring all procedures related to aircraft takeoff and landing in real time at all domestic and international stations.

Indian Embassy in Lebanon issues advisory amid growing tensions

The Indian Embassy in Lebanon on Monday advised its citizens in the country to exercise caution and remain in contact with the mission, amidst the growing tensions between Israel and the Lebanese militant group Hezbollah.

Since October 8 last year, violence has flared across the border between Israeli troops and Hezbollah. The conflict intensified on Saturday after a rocket strike by the Lebanese militant group at a soccer field in Israel killed at least 12 children and teens.

According to Israeli authorities, it was the deadliest attack on an Israeli target along the country’s northern border since the fighting between Israel and Hezbollah began. The attack has raised fears of a broader regional war.

“In view of the recent developments in the region, all Indian nationals in Lebanon and those planning to travel to Lebanon are advised to exercise caution and remain in contact with the Embassy of India in Beirut through their email id: cons.beirut@mea.gov.in or the emergency phone number +96176860128,” the Indian Embassy in Beirut said in an advisory posted on X.

Though Israel blamed Hezbollah for the rocket strike in the Golan Heights, Hezbollah categorically denied carrying out the attack.

There is no doubt that Hezbollah has crossed all the red lines here, and the response will reflect that…We are nearing the moment in which we face an all-out war, Israeli Foreign Minister Israel Katz said on Saturday.

Yemenia Airways to resume flights from Sanaa to Cairo and India

Yemenia Airways is set to resume commercial flights from Yemen’s Sanaa to Egypt, and India starting Sunday evening, Yemen’s state news agency SABA said.

Return flights to Cairo will operate once daily, while flights to India will run twice weekly. The resumption in flights are part of an agreement between Saudi Arabia and Yemen aimed at calming hostilities in Yemen’s decade-old civil war.

The agreement included canceling all recent decisions and procedures against banks by both sides, resuming Yemenia Airways’ flights between Sanaa and Jordan, and operating flights to Cairo and India.
For over two years, Yemen has seen a de-escalation from a conflict that started in March 2015.

Flights between Sanaa and Cairo had been halted since late 2016.
