Easily accessible from KL and Singapore, Desaru Coast keen to attract Indian travellers

The integrated destination resort located on the coast of South East Malaysia is three and half hour drive from KL and two hours from Singapore

Not only is Malaysia’s Desaru Coast one of the finest integrated destination resorts, but is also probably the most strategically located destination from two of the world’s busiest travel hubs, Malaysian capital Kuala Lumpur and Singapore. Located in Malaysia’s South East and very close to Singapore, Desaru is keen to take advantage of this fact with regard to the Indian market. Pre-pandemic, the two countries welcomed well over two million Indian tourists with Malaysia recording a robust over 22 per cent growth in Indian arrivals in 2019.

And with both Malaysia and Singapore extremely popular with the Indian travellers and India ranking among their top tourism source markets, the idyllic Desaru Coast is keen to partner with Indian outbound trade in order to put Desaru on their itineraries and travel programmes for the region. Pre-pandemic, Malaysia attracted over 735,000 Indian visitors making India its sixth largest source market. Singapore welcomed more than 1.4 million visitors in 2019 from India, its third largest source market.

And not just that! Desaru has probably introduced one of the most lucrative incentives programme for the Indian market doling out as much as INR 12 million (1.2 Crore) for segments ranging from MICE groups to Weddings and more. Attending SATTE 2022 for a fourth time,

Speaking on the sidelines of the recently concluded SATTE 2022, Roslina Arbak, Managing Director & Chief Executive Officer, Desaru Development Holdings One Sdn Bhd stressed that connectivity to Desaru is a huge advantage for travellers as the coastal destination resort is just about three and half hour drive from Kuala Lumpur and a mere under two hour drive or ferry from Singapore. Moreover she also pointed that the ferry service from Singapore also brings the guest directly to Desaru as the ferry terminal is located inside the coastal resort. Ferry service between Singapore and Desaru will begin in the second-half of the year.

Highlighting Desaru’s strategic location and offerings, Arbak said, “We are actually in perfect location. We are a perfect getaway for an extended holiday for guests coming into Singapore and even Kuala Lumpur, be it family, FIT, MICE, wedding or others and they can come from both the sides, Malaysia, as well as Singapore. Or, they can come to KL, then come to Desaru and get out of Singapore or the other way around. It’s a good four days three nights stay with enough activities across every market segments. We have four international brand hotels, the Hard Rock hotel, Westin, Anantara from Thailand and the ultra-luxury called the One&Only. Then we have two Golf course, one 18 hole and one 27 hole. We have one of Asia’s largest wave pool in our Adventure Water Park, 17 kilometers beach front, lots of eco-tourism activities, and more.”

Furthermore, she also added that there is high interests with tour operators in the region too who are very keen to extend their packages to include Desaru Coast.
