In an effort to establish the state as India’s top tourist destination, the Uttar Pradesh (UP) government is set to promote the state’s tourism hotspots at major airports across the country. While Uttar Pradesh’s tourist attractions are already showcased at various locations within the state, the initiative is now being expanded to include major airports nationwide.
Initially, the ‘Brand UP’ campaign will be promoted at five major airports, with plans for further expansion. Large display boards will be strategically placed at the arrival and departure areas of both international and domestic terminals in Delhi and Mumbai airports, highlighting the state’s diverse tourist attractions. Similar promotional efforts will be implemented at airports in Kolkata, Coimbatore, and Indore.
The Uttar Pradesh Tourism Department has already started preparations to swiftly implement this initiative. A total of 60 display systems will be installed at Delhi’s T3 domestic arrival and departure terminals, with additional systems set up at the T2 and T1 terminals. In Mumbai, 56 display systems will promote ‘Brand UP’ at the T2 domestic and international arrival terminals, with more screens at the departure terminals. Other airports, including Kolkata, Coimbatore, and Indore, will also see numerous display systems installed to boost the state’s tourism visibility.
Uttar Pradesh is renowned for its rich cultural heritage, festivals, wildlife, and diverse landscapes. The tourism department’s efforts aim to highlight these aspects, making the state a leading tourist destination in India. Tourism is crucial for the economic growth of Uttar Pradesh, contributing significantly to employment and aligning with the state’s goal of becoming a trillion-dollar economy.
Recognizing the importance of tourism, the Uttar Pradesh government has designated it as a priority sector. Under Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s leadership, this initiative is a strategic effort to unlock the sector’s potential and transform Uttar Pradesh into a major tourist hub.
