The Uttar Pradesh government, under Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, is set to enhance religious tourism in Ayodhya and Varanasi by introducing electric boats for adventure water activities and boat rides. According to an official statement, the government is preparing to launch four specialised electric boats in these two historic cities.
In Ayodhya, the initiative will see the operation of one air-conditioned electric boat with a 50-seat capacity and two electric boats with 30-seat capacities each, all departing from Nayaghat on the Saryu River. Similarly, Varanasi tourists will soon have access to a 50-seater air-conditioned electric boat at Ravidas Ghat on the Ganga River.
The state-of-the-art boats will feature advanced designs, with the air-conditioned versions boasting a steel catamaran hull and the non-air-conditioned ones equipped with an FRP catamaran hull. Additionally, the ghats will be upgraded with docking and charging facilities managed by the Uttar Pradesh State Tourism Development Corporation.
These electric boats will operate under a 10-year lease, adhering to the guidelines set by the Tourism department, the Inland Vessel Act, and international standards. The operations will align with the regulations of the Adventure Tour Operators Association of India, ensuring a safe and enjoyable experience for tourists.
