In celebration of International Pride Day and Pride Month, SpiceJet has introduced gender-neutral announcements at airports and on flights, promoting a more inclusive travel experience for all passengers. The airline has replaced traditional greetings like “ladies and gentlemen” with inclusive terms such as “Good morning, all you lovely people,” “Hello everyone,” and “Good [morning/afternoon/evening] and welcome aboard.”
Debojo Maharshi, Chief Business Officer at SpiceJet, emphasised the airline’s dedication to fostering an inclusive environment where everyone feels acknowledged, respected, and welcome. He stated that introducing gender-neutral announcements is a step towards recognising the diverse identities of passengers.
Additionally, on International Cabin Crew Day, SpiceJet launched a pioneering program to equip cabin crew members with sign language skills. This initiative enables effective communication with passengers experiencing hearing loss, underscoring the airline’s commitment to creating a welcoming environment for all travellers and empowering the staff to better serve passengers with hearing impairments.
