Asian river cruise specialist Pandaw is set to debut its latest vessel, the Kochi Pandaw, on the Kerala Backwaters beginning October 2025. The 10-cabin ship will offer a unique and intimate way to explore the picturesque network of waterways in southwest India.
The Kochi Pandaw will feature Pandaw’s classic design elements, including wraparound promenade decks. The ship will offer four cabins on the upper deck and six on the main deck, complemented by a saloon, a guest relations deck, and a library.
The new vessel will operate a seven-night roundtrip itinerary from Kochi, taking guests through both prominent towns and more secluded areas of the Kerala Backwaters, a 900-kilometer network of interconnected waterways. The itinerary will include visits to key destinations such as Fort Kochi, where travelers can explore St. Louis Church, Jew Town with its historic Paradesi Synagogue, local markets, and the Shiva Temple.
Passengers will also have the opportunity to experience Thanneermukkom, known for its Syrian Christian heritage, historic churches, and the Thanneermukkom Bund—a 1,400-meter-long mud regulator that divides Lake Vembanad. The journey will continue to Kumarakom, where guests can visit the Kumarakom Bird Sanctuary, the Craft Museum, and the traditional fishing village of Kavalam. Other highlights include the Munroe Lighthouse in Nattakom and Kettuvallam, where traditional wooden boat construction is demonstrated. The cruise will also stop in Allappuzha, Thottappally, and Perumbalam Island, where travellers can visit the Perumpalam Bhagavathy Temple and the village of Mannar.
The launch of the Kochi Pandaw reflects Pandaw’s dedication to offering immersive and culturally enriching travel experiences in one of India’s most scenic regions.
