Goa CM will look into e-visa issue at Mopa

The Chief Minister of Goa Pramod Sawant  assured the House that he would find out why the e-visa facility isn’t extended to passengers arriving at Manohar International Airport, Mopa, from London. “I will check why it’s not done,” the CM replied to GFP MLA Vijai Sardesai after the Fatorda legislator raised the issue during Zero Hour.

The e-visa facility is available at Goa International airport, Dabolim, but recently UK flights operated by Air India were shifted to the airport at Mopa. ‘‘There’s a concern among passengers arriving from London over the non-acceptance of the e-visa at Mopa,” said Sardesai. Sardesai said that when passengers board a flight from the UK, the Goa-bound passengers are told that their e-visa will not be accepted at Manohar International Airport.

“Plus, these passengers are charged a separate fee: temporary landing fees. This has been happening over the past three days,” said Sardesai, demanding that Sawant take up the matter with the Union ministry of civil aviation. “Till such a time, shift the flights back to Dabolim,” said Sardesai.
