Finnair completes EUR 200 mn overhaul of Business Class

Finnair has completed a major EUR 200 million overhaul of its long-haul cabins, refurbishing its entire fleet of long-haul aircraft. This significant upgrade introduces a brand-new Business Class seat, a revamped Premium Economy cabin, and an enhanced Economy Class, all designed to deliver an exceptional onboard experience. The revamped Business Class cabins combine state-of-the-art comfort, stylish design, and top-notch service, reinforcing Finnair’s position as the leading choice for travellers between Europe, the USA, and Asia. For Indian passengers, Finnair’s direct flights from New Delhi to Helsinki offer a perfect gateway to explore the Nordics and beyond.

The centerpiece of the new Business Class is the AirLounge seat, developed in partnership with Collins Aerospace. This innovative design features a fixed shell instead of traditional reclining mechanisms, offering multiple seating positions, including a full-flat bed for restful sleep. The ergonomic features of the AirLounge seat redefine comfort, allowing passengers to work, relax, or enjoy in-flight entertainment with ease.

The cabin design pays homage to Finnair’s Nordic roots, featuring textiles from the iconic Finnish brand Marimekko, with vintage designs by Maija Isola adding elegance and comfort. The newly designed Business Class entrance area reflects a distinctly Finnish ambiance, creating a cohesive and immersive environment from the moment passengers board. Complementing this is Finnair’s thoughtfully curated menu, inspired by Nordic and Asian culinary traditions, which includes a main meal post-takeoff and a lighter option before arrival. Business Class passengers also enjoy a selection of starters, main courses, cheeses, and desserts, paired with award-winning wines, and a pre-selection service on flights departing from Helsinki.

Enhancing the in-flight experience further, the dining service features tableware designed by Finnish designer Harri Koskinen for Iittala, offering a homely and authentic touch. Koskinen’s Kuulas range, crafted from ceramics, glass, wood, and steel, includes round plates and glasses, breaking away from conventional rectangular items. The revamped entertainment system includes an 18-inch display and a redesigned user interface with darker tones for nighttime flights, along with USB-C connectivity and PC power options for working passengers. Additionally, Finnair offers personalised travel extras such as access to the new Finnair Lounge at Helsinki Airport, preferred seat selection, pre-ordered gourmet meals for European flights, and exclusive benefits through the Finnair Plus program, enhancing the overall travel experience.
