Delhi Airport unveils self-service bag drop facility

Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL) has launched state-of-the-art self-service bag drop (SSBD) quick drop solution at Delhi airport.

With this, the airport became the first airport facility in India and the second in the world after Toronto to implement this technology, the airport firm said in a statement.

The service is currently available with Air India, Air India Express, and IndiGo, according to the statement.

The airport has installed 50 self-service bag drop units that are now operational across Terminal 1 and Terminal 3, ensuring a “seamless and efficient check-in experience,” said DIAL, which is a subsidiary of GMR Airports Infrastructure Limited.

The quick drop solution removes the requirement for boarding pass or biometric validation, cutting the processing time from a minute to 30 seconds, the statement said.

Videh Kumar Jaipuriar, CEO, DIAL, said, “We are thrilled to introduce the self-service bag drop quick drop solution at Delhi Airport, setting a new standard for passenger convenience and efficiency in India. The Quick Drop Solution not only speeds up the baggage drop process but also ensures a smoother, more enjoyable journey for our passengers.”
