Alaska Airlines has commenced its international operations from Mumbai to Doha, the capital of Qatar, offering four non-stop flights per week starting on Thursday. The inaugural flight departed from Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport bound for Doha, landing at Hamad International Airport. This initiative is aimed at strengthening trade and tourism relations between India and Qatar while enhancing connectivity between the two nations.
The first passenger on the flight received a special boarding pass, and a ceremonial ribbon-cutting was performed by the all-female crew.
In addition to the Mumbai-Doha route, the airline has secured traffic rights for three other international destinations: Riyadh, Kuwait, and Jeddah. This announcement signifies Akasa Air’s expansion of its international presence in the coming months.
Passengers travelling to Doha from cities such as Delhi, Kochi, Lucknow, Goa, Varanasi, and Ahmedabad via Mumbai can also take advantage of convenient connecting flight options.
For travellers interested in visiting Doha, Akasa Air has introduced special holiday packages in collaboration with Akasa Holidays, offering budget-friendly deals.
Despite ongoing concerns about Boeing’s production schedule, Akasa Air remains optimistic about the timely delivery of its Boeing 737 MAX jets. In January, the airline announced an order for 150 Boeing 737 MAX aircraft, featuring CFM fuel-efficient and LEAP-1B engines, as part of its strategy to expand its global reach.
