VFS Global today officially inaugurated the Turkey Visa Application Centre (VAC) in Mumbai. Erdal Sabri Ergen, Consul General, Turkey, inaugurated the VAC in the presence of dignitaries from the Turkish Consulate, and staff of VFS Global.
The Government of the Republic of Turkey and VFS Global signed the contracts in March, 2016 to roll out centres in 18 cities across India, the Maldives and Nepal, namely Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Chandigarh, Chennai, Goa, Gurgaon, Hyderabad, Jalandhar, Jaipur, Kochi, Kolkata, Mumbai, New Delhi, Pune, Puducherry and Thiruvananthapuram in India, and Malé (the Maldives) and Kathmandu (Nepal). Services at all locations were launched for visa applicants on April 1, 2016. This partnership made VFS Global the authorised visa processing service partner for Turkey, in India.
Visa requests for Indian passport holders in India (or any other passport holders applying for visa in India) will be done through VFS Global offices. VFS will provide the sticker visa only. Whereas visa for Indian passport holders with valid Schengen/USA/UK/Ireland visa will be processed online through www.evisa.gov.tr.
Speaking at the inauguration Ergen said, “Visitor numbers for Turkey have increased 2.5 times in the last six years. We witnessed 3.6 crore travellers last year, making Turkey the sixth most visited country in the world. In the past five years, Indian arrivals have increased from 60 thousand to 1.5 lakh, which is more than double. We are determined to do our best to open the gates wider for Indian nationals who wish to visit Turkey, which is already one of the top destinations for tourism. Turkey is committed to positively enhancing cooperation with India and we believe that the launch of these VACs will contribute to the enhancement of the cooperation between Turkey and India particularly in the fields of tourism and economy.”
