Travel Today feels customisation is key for travel industry

Travel Today, which has been in business from 1987, feels customisation is the key for travel industry and good business. “Customer is now well-versed with destinations. For newer destinations, travellers conduct their own research before contacting travel agents,” shared Shailendra Bhalchandra Pathare, Proprietor, Travel Today. “Business is tough nowadays, we have to remain extremely alert about what the customers want”, exclaimed Pathare.

“Until 2000, there were a very few travel agents, who were well versed with their destinations and other offerings, but now there’s a gamut of agents and only some of them have knowledge about the industry”, Pathare said. Talking of the advent of online travel agents, he said that they lack personal touch, which comes in handy in times of crisis. “Our customers can connect to us directly, unlike the OTAs wherein the customers have to explain their plight to every customer care executive, before finally reaching to someone at the managerial level,” Pathare pointed out.

The company caters to destinations such as Far Middle East, Sri Lanka, Maldives. Evolving along with the changing demands of travellers, Travel Today covers destinations like Sri Lanka and Bali. “People are bored with Hong Kong, Thailand, Malaysia and Singapore. Even Abu Dhabi, Sharjah are upcoming locations, which people would want to visit,” said Pathare.

Pathare, an active ETAA member for nearly 6 years, is happy with the association. “So far it has been good,” he stated.
