Serbia highly optimistic about India market

With an aim to make India rank among the top 10 source markets in the next three years, the National Tourism Organisation of Serbia conducted its first promotional event in Mumbai recently. “After abolishing visa for Indian tourists in 2017, we had started modest promotional activities here, but now we feel that it is high time to start a full-fledged campaign. This is time to focus on India, and I believe the market is ready to explore new destinations. Last year, around 8,000 visitors from India visited our country. Abolition of visa for Indian tourists coupled with our strong focus on this market will help us to get far large number of tourists from what it is now. Our aim is to make India rank among the top 10 source markets for Serbia in the next three years,” said Marija Labovic, CEO & Managing Director, National Tourism Organisation of Serbia.

To start with, the National Tourism Organisation of Serbia is focusing on Mumbai and Delhi markets. “We know that the Indian market offers enormous scope and there are many options. These two cities are best to start with and post that, we will turn our focus to other cities as well,” said Labovic. Serbia Tourism is promoting city-breaks, vacation in nature, culture, historical places, etc. in India market. When asked to comment about target audience, she said that their primary target is family, MICE and incentive groups. “Serbia is well suited for families. As far as MICE and Incentive groups are concerned, we believe that we can offer quality and value for money. We also target groups and FITs because Serbia is a destination for all segments,” she pointed out.

Talking about connectivity, Labovic said that people from Mumbai and Delhi can fly by Etihad Airways, Qatar Airways, flydubai and Turkish Airlines. “Turkish Airlines is planning to introduce third daily flight between Istanbul and Belgrade and daily flight from Delhi and Mumbai to Istanbul make it further easier to visit Serbia,” she said.

According to her, Serbia is a round the year destination and timing of visit depends on the tourists. “Anytime is a right time to visit our country, but it depends on the taste of travellers. For instance, during winter, we offer vacations in our spas and ski resorts. People, who love skiing and snow can opt for winter. Similarly, travellers who do not prefer the winter season can visit between April and October. Also, summer in Serbia is not as hot as India,” said Labovic.
