Odisha Tourism to formulate a Master Plan for Priority Destinations to make them investor ready

Government to open first phase of bidding for Shamuka development soon
Jyoti Prakash Panigrahi, Tourism Minister, Odisha said that the state tourism will formulate a Master Plan for Priority Tourism Destinations for making them investment ready for the private sector to come and invest in those areas. Speaking at the Tourism Investors Meet organised by FICCI in Delhi recently, the Minister urged investors in the tourism infrastructure sector to take advantage of the abundant investment opportunities and favourable investment policies in the state. 

He said that the state has about 300 acres of investment ready land bank for investors to look at opportunities for hotels, resorts, convention facilities, way-side amenities, theme parks, entertainment facilities, etc. He said that the state has one of the best single window system of approvals for projects. The state has been recognised by global agencies including World Bank as one of the best states for investment and implementation of projects.

Talking about connectivity, Panigrahi said that connectivity to the western part of Odisha has improved with the opening of Jarsuguda airport. The Biju Pattnaik Airport, which is voted as the best airport in terms of customer experience in APAC last year, has carried 40% more passengers last year.

Giving a presentation on the investment opportunities, the representative of EY, the consultancy agency, said that the state is keen to have a world class convention facility. Significant land parcels are available at places like Gopalpur, Bhitarkanika, Talsari, Chandipur, Konark, Satkosia, Chilika, etc. The government allots land at industrial rates to investors with incentives like 20% capital investment subsidy, 5% interest subsidy, 75% reimbursement of PF/ESI, training cost reimbursement of employees, etc., he said. 

The government has also identified 1500 acres of land in Shamuka for infrastructure development, he added. Out of which 920 acres will be opened for development with private participation soon, he added.
