5 Boeing 737 MAX planes of Jet Airways grounded by lessor

As per the Economic Times (ET), the financial turmoil at Jet Airways has impacted the operations of the airline, which has seen about five of their Boeing 737 MAX aircraft being grounded, as lessors want to repossess these aircraft.

The groundings have led to cancellation of about 19 flights that is set to cause inconvenience to passengers booked on these flights.
Source said that one aircraft of each were grounded i.e. Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore and Chennai.

“Lessors want to take back their aircraft and started the process after grounding these aircraft. Over and above this, another aircraft is already grounded, as the lessors had initiated the process to take them back,” said a senior airline executive.

Jet Airways, which has about 5 of these aircraft in the fleet, would not be left with any MAX aircraft in its fleet. The airline has also, due to financial crunch, has deferred the induction of MAX aircraft in its fleet. The airline was to induct 6 of these aircraft by March but has deferred their induction plan due to cash crunch.
