Adelaide Oval felicitates Zaheer Khan

Former India pacer Zaheer Khan was felicitated by Adelaide Oval cricket ground, during his visit to Australia with his wife Sagarika Ghatge. The felicitation program was attended by Darren Chandler, General Manager Marketing and Operations Adelaide Oval Stadium Management Authority, Minister Ridgway and his wife Meredith, Rodney Harrex, CE South Australian Tourism Commission and Raju Narayanan, Director of Indian Engagement for Government of SA. Khan, who was honoured for his contribution to cricket, spent the day at the stadium.

Commenting on the occasion, Laura Robinson, Tourism Manager, Adelaide Oval said, "India and Australia have shared excellent cricketing relations over the years. Being a cricket-loving nation, Australia recognises that Zaheer Khan has not only been a vital contributor to Indian cricket, but also to the very sport itself. Hence, the Adelaide Oval team wanted to appreciate Zaheer's performance over the course of his career and were delighted to host him and his lovely wife Sagarika at the stadium. We believe that this will only strengthen the common love for cricket that India and Australia share".

Speaking about his experience in Adelaide, Zaheer Khan commented saying, "Adelaide Oval is a fantastic place to play cricket and I have fond memories at this stadium. I've always looked forward to the Adelaide leg of the trip on previous tours because it's also one of the most unique destinations in Australia and there's so much to discover here. Being recognised and appreciated here therefore is very special and I look forward to returning back to explore more of the State very soon".

Sharing her thoughts on the felicitation, Dana Urmonas, Regional Director (India & Southeast Asia), SATC said, "We are happy to have hosted Zaheer in South Australia.  Over the years, cricket has been a major draw factor in pulling Indians to visit and explore Adelaide and its surrounding regions like Kangaroo Island, Barossa and Fleurieu Peninsula. With Adelaide Oval hosting the Test series opener between India and Australia in December this year, we are looking forward to welcoming many more Indian visitors and showing off our State".

The Adelaide Oval is one of the oldest cricket stadiums in the world and offers visitors a range of unique experiences to discover the iconic stadium better. Visitors also get the opportunity to visit the iconic players’ locker room and operate the 100+ year-old scoreboards as part of a pre-booked stadium tour.
