Ministry of Tourism launches ‘Swachh Paryatan’ mobile app covering 25 ASI monuments

The Ministry of Tourism has launched a mobile application for the public to raise cleanliness related issues at the 25 ASI monuments covered under the ‘Adarsh Smarak’ list of the Ministry of Culture initially. The Swachh Paryatan mobile app was launched by the Tourism Minister, Dr. Mahesh Sharma here in Delhi. Developed by DeGS, the application has been integrated into the National Informatics Centre (NIC) and will be available for download on Android phones initially through Google Play Store, followed by other platforms in the next 10 days. More monuments will be added to the list later on.

Visitors to these monuments and general public can text their complaints or upload pictures using the app. ASI has appointed one Nodal Officer for each of the monuments to act upon the complaints/suggestions received from the public. Dr. Sharma said that the Nodal Officers have to report the action taken on such complaints and suggestions within 3 hours of receiving it.

The Minister said that while India has rich variety in terms of tourism offerings, the key issues are cleanliness, safety and hospitality. He said that the government is resolved to address and improve upon all three parameters. The Tourist Infoline service launched in 12 languages early this month, was a major step towards improving safety of tourists, he said.

Speaking on the occasion, Vinod Zutshi, Secretary Tourism, Government of India said that the government’s initiatives cannot succeed without people’s participation. He cited the success of Rajasthan, Kerala, etc. in tourism as an example of people’s participation.
