MakeMyTrip Outbound Travel Survey 2019 records growth in outbound travellers from Tier 2 and 3 cities in India

Survey reveals travel habits of Indians during international travel
MakeMyTrip, has released its first Outbound Travel Survey 2019 right before the onset of busy summer travel season. The findings of the report is based on a four pronged online survey that was conducted by MakeMyTrip in the month of January 2019 that included more than 1200 respondents who had booked international travel recently on the platform.
Speaking on the report, Vipul Prakash, COO, MakeMyTrip said, “With the rise in disposable incomes and ease of planning and booking travel online, the number of Indians travelling overseas is growing phenomenally. Interestingly, a large chunk of this growth is coming from travellers in tier 2-3 Indian cities. This report is reflective of the larger trends being seen in the industry at large. Being a one stop travel shop, it is pertinent for us to understand the overall international travel behavior and perception towards various services at different touch points to adapt our offerings in sync with travellers’ needs.”

According to the survey, there has been a continuous evolution in travellers’ choices when it comes to international travel. Beach destinations continue to be the the most preffered international destination by 71% Indian travellers. While the study found that Indian travellers are very keen on exploring new international destinations with different culture, it also revealed that more than 60% percent seek out Indian food as their comfort food even during international trips.
