Desaru Coast Holdings announces attractive incentive scheme for MICE groups

Desaru Coast is fully ready to receive MICE and Destination Wedding Groups: CEO
Desaru Coast Holdings, the agency credited with the development and marketing of premium integrated resort destination, Desaru Coast in Malaysia, has announced attractive incentive scheme for travel companies to boost MICE groups into the resort destination.  This incentive scheme will be on offer for 2020 and 2021. According to Roslina Arbak, CEO, Desaru Development Holdings. in value terms the incentive will be equivalent to USD 40 per head for groups with a minimum size of 200 people.

“As a new destination, we have to incentivise the trade to bring MICE groups,” she said in an interaction with TravelBiz Monitor.  Arbak was in the city to participate in SATTE 2020.

With the opening of two more hotels, The Westin and Anantara in 2019, besides the Hardrock Hotel, Desaru Coast is ready now to receive big MICE and Wedding Groups, she said.  Altogether, the integrated resort has 700 rooms on offer now with other facilities including a 1,000 pax conference venue, plenty of conference venues ranging from 50 to 300 pax capacity, theme park, outdoor activities, etc.  “We strongly believe that all infrastructure and facilities are now in place for MICE in the resort,” she added.  The resort will add another 44-key all-suite One & Only hotel to its portfolio by March this year.

Underscoring the importance Desaru Coast bestows to India market business, the CEO said that they have sensitised the hotels in the resort about the special demands of Indian groups and are ready to offer “access to Indian chefs to their kitchens” if required.
Saying that Corporate MICE and Destination Weddings are key focus segments from India market, Arbak said that 3 nights/4 days package would be an ideal package for MICE and Wedding groups in Desaru Coast.  Currently, the bulk of Indian visitations to Desaru are FIT which is a spill over from either Singapore or Kuala Lumpur, she said.  MICE groups can combine their meetings with lot of outdoor activities like island tour, mangrove tours, off-roading tours in the island, play golf, visit theme park, etc., she added.
Desaru Coast had hosted a group of travel agents from India last year as part of a familiarisation drive.  Arbak said that they will continue their engagement with the existing partners as well as new partners to promote Desaru Coast as a standalone destination.
