Cox & Kings launches culinary tours for 7 destinations in India

As part of its specialty offerings, Cox & Kings has launched ‘Tour to Feast’ culinary tours for 7 destinations in India. These tours will take travellers through the evolution of the indigenous cuisines of different regions. Currently, tours are available for destinations namely Mumbai, Delhi, Lucknow, Varanasi, Jaipur, Agra and Goa.

Speaking to TravelBiz Monitor, Debolin Sen, Head-Special Interests, Cox & Kings, said that ‘Tour to Feast’ is a very niche product and first dedicated platform for foodies. “Before launching the product, we have undertaken extensive research and audit, and also met people who will deliver the finer food experience to travellers. If somebody is visiting to Delhi or Jaipur, the purpose of the visit will be to experience different kinds of food of that city. In between, if anyone gets time then he or she can go for sightseeing,” clarified Sen.

He said that travellers would experience different foods each day. “Our distinctly crafted tours take travellers beyond just restaurant tasting, give a taste of a region’s culture through its cuisine. Whether you want to taste food through bazaars, food walks or home dining experiences, cook like a local or just curious to know about the origins of the most celebrated cuisines, we have all that covered under ‘Tour to Feast’ which offer authentic culinary experiences like no one else,” explained Sen.

Plans are afoot to add more destinations to the product offering. “We will add Kolkata, Kerala and North East region of the country is also on our radar,” revealed Sen. He also said that next year they will add international destinations as well, but did not divulge the name of the places. “Europe is the hot bed for food,” he said. According to him, the product has immense scope and at the same time needs many points to cover. “So, it can’t be done everything at a time. We will expand in a phased manner,” said Sen.

Karan Anand, Head, Relationships, Cox & Kings, said that India is a haven for food lovers and each region’s culture can be best introduced through its food. “We see a substantial increase in the number of tourists integrating culinary tours as part of their travel experiences. In India, each state has unique flavours, delectable cuisines and such amazing stories of bygone eras and their influence on food - the richness of these experiences needs to be presented in a very unique way and through a niche offering like Tour to Feast.”
