Amadeus India organises workshop on impact of NDC on air content distribution

Amadeus, a global distribution system gradually evolving itself to become a live travel space, organised a workshop on impact of New Distribution Capability (NDC) on air content distribution at the Rosseate Hotel in New Delhi.

Champa Magesh, Vice President - Retail Travel Channels, Asia Pacific, Amadeus was present at the workshop to deliver the key address and clear the air about NDC among the members of travel trade present at the workshop.

Alongside, at the event Amadeus also organised a product showcase educating the present members of travel trade about its latest products and industry solutions.

"Amadeus is a Level 3 certified aggregator under IATA’s New Distribution Capability standard. With our travel partners spread across 190 countries, it becomes our responsibility to educate them about the latest industry developments. NDC X, a dedicated programme for providing access to as well as solutions regarding the air content distribution through NDC, is one step towards the same which Amadeus has taken to make it's travel partners aware about NDC as a whole and educate them on its potential to revolutionise how travel is bought and sold," said Magesh.

At the event, Magesh also threw light on how Amadeus is working to evolve itself from just being a global distribution system to a live travel space through which it will create a platform for mutual benefit of distributors in the form of airlines as well as the travel agents. "With businesses evolving and new players entering the travel space, this industry is getting diverse and so is Amadeus. Through the live travel space, we work towards understanding what content our customers really want and then offer it via any technology source (traditional EDIFACT-based GDS, NDC, APIs or aggregators) on our travel platform," explained Magesh.

She further elaborated that Amadeus eyes India as one of the most important markets in terms of travel space and to better capture this market is opting for more business oriented and consumer-led approach rather than geography-led approach across all its segments i.e. retail, online, business travel and corporations.

A similar workshop is scheduled to be held by Amadeus in Mumbai next month on October 4.
