31st IATO Annual Convention to be held from Aug 20-23, 2015; venue to be announced soon

IATO and MoT will conduct five international roadshows this year
At the bimonthly meeting of the Indian Association of Tour Operators (IATO) held recently, the Executive Committee announced that the 31st Annual Convention of IATO will be held from August 20-23 this year. The destination and venue of the event will be revealed in a week.

Speaking at the meeting, Sarabjit Singh, Senior Vice President, IATO, announced that over 95 exhibitors and 140 foreign buyers have confirmed their participation, and a few more are expected to register, for the Global Exhibition on Services (GES), which will take place from April 23-25, 2015 at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi. The Exhibition, which is being organised by the Union Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), and Services Export Promotion Council (SEPC), has Federation of Associations in Indian Tourism & Hospitality (FAITH) as partner, while IATO - which is a part of FAITH - is taking the lead in coordinating with the Union Ministry of Tourism (MoT) for the event. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be visiting the tourism halls at the Exhibition, Singh informed.

Singh also lamented about the apathy shown by the government towards the tourism sector in the Union Budget 2015-16, while also stressing on its potential on international platforms. He urged IATO members to write about their concerns to the Secretariat and raise issues.

Subhash Goyal, President, IATO, said that for quite some time now, there has been a very keen desire to induct fresh blood into the Association, as some of the Chapter Chairmen have been holding the post of Regional Chapter Chairmen for a very long time. “With the keenness expressed by some members to volunteer, the IATO Executive Committee has made new appointments. People who have volunteered have been preferred. We hope that this will indeed make the IATO Regional Chapters more active,” he added.

Rajeev Kohli, Vice President, IATO, informed that the Association, along with MoT, will organise five roadshows this year; one each in the UK (June 15-19), Baltic Europe (July 6-10), Far East (July 20-29), Europe (October 12-15), and USA (dates to be announced).

IATO will also conduct training programmes focusing on skills related to the frontline and the operations staff. The topics for the same are being finalised and will be announced in ten days, Kohli informed.

Microsoft India recently organised a workshop to educate IATO members about the various cost-effective products (cloud solutions) easily adaptable for small and medium companies, informed Kohli. “Over 70 IATO members attended the same and gave positive feedback,” stated Ravi Gosain, Honorary Joint Secretary, IATO. He added that the Association will soon enter into a strategic partnership with Microsoft.

Dear sir Tamilnadu is not getting any benefir from IATO You should have one executive to look in to 4 State of south India and have a semminar among the 4 states in south to strengthen the hand Of Iato There is no co-ordintion amoong 4 states in South India except Kerala. Also should make some rules like in TAAI about default of payment by agents to the sub agents and to car & coach operators. Nkannan
