SATTE 2016 to channelise inbound-outbound growth

UBM India will be hosting the 23rd edition of South Asia Travel & Tourism Exchange (SATTE), in New Delhi from January 29-31, 2016. This year’s edition will be represented by over 750 exhibitors from around 35 countries and 25+ Indian states, Yogesh Mudras, Managing Director, UBM India informs TravelBiz Monitor
Maintaining an almost balanced ratio of inbound and outbound exhibitors this year i.e. 45:55, SATTE has attracted more than 750 exhibitors this year that include 25+ State Tourism Boards, 35 National Tourist Offices (NTOs) and many more airlines, hotels and resorts, cruise liners and travel technology service providers who will showcase their incredible range of products and services at the expo and counting. Amidst massive industry response, UBM India has received over 900 buyer registrations which are expected to increase till the D-day. The organisers are also hopeful to facilitate business among an estimated 17,000 visitors, including international and domestic buyers and trade visitors, over a period of 3-days, all under one roof.

Among the inbound exhibitors showcasing 45% of the exhibitor count, 25+ State Tourism Boards are participating at the trade event. States such as Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Kerala, and Bihar amongst others have increased their presence at the 2016 edition of SATTE. So far Gujarat, West Bengal, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab and Rajasthan have confirmed their participation. Moreover, the 8 North Eastern states will participate under the Incredible India Pavilion of Ministry of Tourism, Government of India. States such as Uttar Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Uttarakhand, Odisha, Goa and Jharkhand, and the Union Territory of Andaman and Nicobar Islands are in the process of finalising their participation for SATTE 2016.

Over 35 National Tourism Boards such as Brand USA, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Changi Airport (Singapore), Egypt, Mexico, Malaysia, Spain, Hong Kong, Japan, Korea, New Zealand, Israel, Thailand, Indonesia, Jordan, Turkey, Macau, Fiji, Bhutan, Cambodia, Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Taiwan have confirmed their participation. Representatives of Moscow Convention and Exhibition Centre and Destination Management Companies (DMCs) from Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan amongst other outbound companies will also be present at SATTE comprising 55% of exhibitors.

SATTE offers a world-class networking platform to the Indian and global tourism trade industry and is the only platform where as many as 25+ Indian states participate as exhibitors. India is one of the most critical markets of the world including both outbound and inbound operations; and SATTE has evolved as the perfect platform to showcase products and services of international and domestic buyers to the global travel trade community, with an opportunity to conduct business amongst an estimated 17,000 visitors - including international and domestic buyers and trade visitors - over 3 days all under one roof.

Over the years, SATTE has witnessed tremendous appeal with a magnanimous response from the exhibitors and buyers, launches by different tourism boards and the overall increase in visitors. This platform has been one which international and domestic players have appreciated and UBM India has successfully been able to play the role of a catalyst in promoting tourism in India.

While State Tourism Boards and domestic players such as hotels and resorts, airlines and specific tourism products participate in SATTE to woo inbound and domestic tourism segments, National Tourist Offices of various countries do participate to drive Indian traffic from India to their respective countries. Moreover, SATTE has also provided the industry with a single platform for the trade to meet, network and grow their businesses. The business sessions at SATTE has given the industry representatives a podium to share their thoughts and expertise with the rest of the industry.

The event will also see participation from Qatar Airways, SriLankan Airlines, Thai Airways, Malaysian Airlines, Aeroflot, Vistara and IndiGo.
