‘Sagai se Shehnai’ 3.0, highlighting the changing dynamics of wedding business

Hilton Jaipur organised Sagai se Shehnai 3.0 – Wedding trends 19-20, an annual event that offers wedding-ready facilities and services in collaboration with experts in décor, clothing, makeup, rituals and others.

The event was inaugurated by Vishal Gupta,General Manager, Hilton Jaipur, Dr. Subhash Garg – State minister medical and health technical education Sanskrit education Ayurveda: Vishnu lata –Mayor, Jaipur; Dr. Jaydeep Mehta, Founder, True Events; Pritesh Sharma, Founder, Mapsor Events.

Commenting on the event Gupta said, "The first & second season of Sagai se Shehnai 3.0 was a huge success where our guests witnessed a mock wedding that gave an insight to all on how elaborate and grand could weddings be at Hilton Jaipur. Taking it forward, this season Sagai se Shehnai 3.0 – Wedding trends 19-20" – hosted a talk show by the renowned wedding experts and a Wedding fashion show that featured every fashion item you need for your wedding day, from exquisite attire, intricate jewellery to shoes."



The speakers at the panel covered 3 major topics in an event: The sanctity of Eco-friendly décor and beauty of using traditional methods in décor by Kalpana Rajesh – Chennai, Wedding industry growing over the years and wedding trends 2019-2020 by Dr. Mehta, Growing relationship between hotels and events by Gupta, Dr. Mehta, Sharma.

Talking about the records of Hilton, Jaipur in the segment of weddings, Gupta said, "In 2019, we have done approximately 30 weddings and 100 wedding related events. The business of weddings year around differs because here in Jaipur the concept of summer and winter weddings is very different. In winter people prefer doing the main wedding ceremony or at least one of the functions in outdoor either in lawns or palaces. We work very closely with the city palaces & old haweli's. In summer, because of extreme climate conditions in Jaipur, the entire wedding ceremony takes place in house." "Apart from Jaipur, we get lot of destination wedding clients from metros like Delhi, Bengalure, Mumbai. Also, we have hosted weddings for clients from Chandigarh & West Bengal and some international clients," he added.

India has always been big on weddings. The basic intent of Sagai se Shehnai 3.0 is to understand the changing trends and future of the wedding business said Mehta at the event. He said, "Wedding is a no recession kind of industry in India. Alliance is the next thing in weddings. Annual events like Sagai se Shehnai or association like EMF, Rajasthan forum, ICMF are boosting the energy and business for all stakeholders in the wedding industry. 70% of this is for wedding rest 30% is for MICE, Corporates and other segments."

Highlighting the coexistence of travel agents as a part and parcel of wedding industry, Mehta said, Travel agents are bound to be a part of weddings. Especially for the destination weddings. Travel industry needs to grow with wedding sensibility apart from FITs. They should know the wedding expectations right from air booking, visas, immigration, education, logistic ground transport. For weddings, graduating apart from ticketing is must today for the travel agents so as to give a turnkey solution."



Talking about EMF as an association Mehta said, As of now 250 wedding planners are a part of EMF. Forming an collaboration of wedding planners exclusively, drives the focus of industry and intends to betterment of business. Individually, one cannot explore everything that collectively we can. At EMF, we talk to upcoming potential wedding destinations like Ras Al Khaimah, World of Estonia, presentations like 10 weddings a year etc."

Apart from knowledge session about the wedding industry, the wedding event at Jaipur also hosted a Fashion show demonstrating pre and post wedding attire, jewellery and accessories. The ramp models showcased western and ethnic traditional clothing that will be in vogue in 2020 weddings.

The event witnessed leading wedding specialists from around the country who shared their expertise and thoughts on the advent of Jaipur emerging as one of the preferred destinations for weddings in India. Sagai Se Shehnai 3.0 has been holding the wedding community of Jaipur and cities alongside, Mehta said. "There need to me more and more such events to focus on the dynamic wedding industry of India. It always becomes better when community goes, one needs to park, hear about the experiences and make better deals," he concluded.
