Jalesh Cruises to look at tapping Indian weddings & corporate incentives

Jalesh Cruises, the first full-fledged Indian cruise brand promoted by Zen Cruises, which commences its domestic sail between Mumbai and Goa starting April 17 with a 2,000 pax capacity luxury cruise ship, Karnika, will attempt to tap niche segments of events market like weddings and corporate incentives. The cruise operator has obtained permissions to hold Indian weddings with proper ‘Havans’ (fire place) onboard the ship specially to lure the lucrative Indian weddings market. This was informed by Amit Mathur, Country Head, Sayin Voyages Pvt. Ltd., the Preferred Sales Partner for Jalesh Cruises, while presenting the features of the product to the travel trade in Delhi. Sayin Voyages conducted the presentations in Delhi, Ahmedabad, Surat and Pune in association with TravelBiz Monitor.

With Jalesh Cruises, lot of hassles associated with cruising will be eliminated for Indians. “Cruising as a segment is quite nascent in India. We want to bring it into the mainstream,” he said. Jalesh will open up 30,000 cabins per month for Indians’ to cruise and it will be a fantastic opportunity for the cruising industry in the country, he added.

Talking about the product, Mathur said that the ship will offer 837 cabins with maximum Ocean view options. While 200 cabins will be inside cabins, the rest are Ocean View (430) and Balcony cabins (162). There will be 36 mini suites, the premium category accommodation, as well in the 14-deck ship.

On the F&B front, Karnika will have 14 restaurants and Lounges with some speciality ones. “10 out of the 14 restaurants are included in the packages,” Mathur said. Apart from the largest capacity, The Waterfront, there will be speciality restaurants like the ‘Chef Table’, ‘Chopstick’ (Oriental cuisine), ‘Jain Haven’ (pure Jain food), ‘International Grill’ (international multi-cuisine), ‘Vegetarian Bang’ (catering to Vegetarian preferences), ‘Kettle & Bun’, etc. There will be theme lounges like ‘The Dome’, a discotheque and bar, The Casino Bar, The Pool Bar, etc. Jalesh has engaged Apollo Group to handle the hospitality operations including F&B.

On the entertainment side, there will be live music concerts and shows on board. The ship has a full-fledged movie theatre, three swimming pools with dedicated kids area and water park. The ship also has a casino which will be operational only while on the international waters. The ship also comes with a Spa, which will be managed by reputed spa operator, serena spa, fitness centre and salon. The ship will also have an International Duty Free.
