India steals the limelight at Genting Cruise’s First Travel Partners Tribute Awards

Genting Cruise Lines, in order to recognise their travel partners for infusing growth to their business, recently organised first ever mega award function ‘Genting Cruise Lines Travel Partners Tribute Awards’ in Hong Kong. Among those joined the ship berthed at Hong Kong’s Kai Tak terminal were the travel agents from over 10 Asian countries who had sold cruises which spanned 12 countries, 15 home ports and 50 destinations. Agents from India, China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Japan, S.Korea, Sri Lanka, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, etc., attended the ceremony. The awards were given across three brands of Genting Cruise Lines i.e. Dream Cruises, Star Cruises and Crystal Cruises. However, Ark Travels from India stole the limelight at the event by bagging five awards in different categories. It is the only company which received 5 awards at the function.

Commenting on the awards, Naresh Rawal, VP - Sales, Genting Cruise Lines, said, “The awards will further facilitate and encourage all the travel agents at the global level to perform better in future. The recognition was given for their performance in the year 2017. These awards are based on the total revenues per ship, per deployment.”

Kishan Biyani, Managing Director, Ark Travels, extended his gratitude to Genting Cruise Lines for the recognition and appreciation bestowed on them. “We are honoured to receive these awards. These are the recognition of Ark Travels’ spectacular services. These awards belong to 4,500 plus travel agents across India who directly or indirectly are part of Ark Travels family, a family who has worked with such passion and dedication over past many years. The company has redefined cruise travel in India with several industry first innovations in its products and services. We are grateful to Genting Cruise Lines and its sister companies who have recognised our innovations in the cruise travel industry,” said Biyani.

Ark Travels was recognised for Highest Sales in ‘Asia’ for Genting Cruise Lines, Top Sales for ‘Singapore Deployment’ for Star Cruises, 1st Runner-up for ‘Hong Kong Deployment’ for Dream Cruise and Genting Cruise Lines ‘Best Marketing’ Award. Biyani said that the best thing about Star Cruises and Dream Cruises is that they understand the Indian market. “The needs and wants of a typical Indian cruiser, more importantly they understand the gastronomical needs. On-board cuisine clubbed with fascinating destinations, luxury amenities, entertainment and flexibility make Star and Dream the most likeable cruise liners in India,” he opined. Biyani is very optimistic about the future of cruise tourism in India. “The above mentioned factors along with the innovative ideas have led to the growth of Ark Travels in the last one decade. I am sure that these will further influence and facilitate the growth of cruise tourism in India,” he stated.

Other Indian companies which received the awards are Guideline Travels and Dpauls Travels & Tours Ltd. Guideline Travel was recognised as 2nd Top Seller for Singapore- Star Cruise sand Dpauls received the award in ‘Dream Achievers’ category. Commenting on the achievement, Pradeep Saboo, CEO, Guideline Travels, said, “We are happy that Star Cruises has recognised our hard work. Our passion to sell cruises is showing results.” He strongly believes that this award will further motivate to sell cruise in India. “It is very encouraging to be recognised as one of the top sellers of cruise in India. We will further multiply our efforts and focus to promote cruise tourism in India,” said Saboo.

On behalf of Dpauls Travels & Tours Ltd, Naresh Rawal received the award.

“This is a well organised event. For the first time Genting has invited PSAs from all over the world and around 300 agents have attended the ceremony. We are very proud that three agents from India were awarded,” said Manoj Saraf, Managing Director, Gainwell. He further added that getting an award is always encouraging for any person or company. “I hope next year more agents from India will be awarded,” he added.

Similarly, Joseph K. Jose, Vice President & Head – Wholesale, Travel Air Representations, FCM Travel Solutions (India) Pvt. Ltd, opined that the event was a fantastic one. “The awards ceremony was well-choreographed and all the outstanding performers around the world were recognised. The organisers also showed us the ship ‘World Dream’ through an interactive game,” said Jose. According to him, cruise tourism in India is registering y-o-y growth which is a good sign for the travel industry. “The Genting Group is going to deploy mega ships in the coming years and with this the roadmap for the next five to eight years looks very interesting and promising for the travel industry of India,” explained Jose.
