With the encouraging annual growth of Indian outbound, Bangkokheadquartered Dusit International is looking at aggressively establishing its foothold in the Indian market. According to Keshwar Bhagat, Director - Sales - India, Global Sales Office, Dusit Hotels & Resorts, “The Indian market is constantly evolving. With the volume of outbound travel increasing every year, India is one of the fastest growing outbound travel markets in the world. United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) has predicted the number of outbound Indian travellers will reach 50 million by 2020, so now is the perfect time for Dusit Hotels to establish its foothold in India. This is in tandem with our own growth, which will see our current tally of 28 hotels and resorts to top 80 worldwide within the next four-to-five years.”

The focus for Dusit in 2018 is brand visibility. Along with sales blitzes and a strategised PR plan, Dusit will also participate in key tradeshows throughout the year. “We will also organise our own Dusit Roadshow in Mumbai, Delhi and Bengaluru in the last week of January 2018. The main focus in the first year was the key metros of India. In 2018, we will look to Tier-II cites like Jaipur, Ludhiana, Amritsar and Ahmedabad. We have already set about appointing wholesale partners across India, and we will reach out to travel partners across India through their networks.”

Dusit is an affordable luxury brand, Bhagat says, adding, “Besides the focus on MICE and weddings, we also have a distinctive world of experiences awaiting the discerning luxury traveller – from China to Egypt to Maldives to Kenya to Guam and beyond. Our hotels in Thailand and Middle East are the best known amongst Indian clientele, and therefore attract the most visitors. My job is to ensure that the Indian market knows about our entire global portfolio.”

The Dusit group has hotels that cater to diverse segments, be it FIT travellers, honeymooners, families travelling in small groups, MICE or weddings. Dusit has its main portfolio spread across Bangkok, Hua Hin, Pattaya, Krabi and Phuket. “The resorts in these destinations are perfectly suited to cater to MICE events and Indian weddings – especially the expansive beachfront resorts, which are ideal ‘destination wedding’ venues. Dusit International also has a solid presence in the Middle East, with awardwinning hotels in both Abu Dhabi and Dubai. An impressive lineup of upcoming hotels is also set to open in the Middle East over the next couple of years.”

Properties in Focus
Looking to Dubai, the Dusit Thani Dubai hotel, with its Burj facing views, is prominently situated on Sheikh Zayed Road. “This hotel attracts Indian travellers with its unique design, good-sized rooms, and multiple dining options. The brand new dusitD2 Kenz, meanwhile, enjoys a strategic location in the ever-buzzing Barsha Heights, next to Dubai Internet City Metro Station, and caters to both business and leisure travellers. Dubai World Trade Centre, Dubai international Airport, Dubai Marina, and Dubai Mall are all nearby,” Bhagat says.
Already named amongst the Top 100 hotels globally, Dusit Thani Abu Dhabi is perfectly equipped to meet the needs of the Indian MICE Industry. Alongside 527 luxurious rooms, it boasts a huge ballroom, a pre-function area under a unique sky dome, and multiple breakout rooms equipped with the latest technology. Many of the city’s main attractions are located close by.
The hotel is already a favourite with Indian celebrities, having recently hosted R. Madhavan, Prakash Raj, Shubha Mudgal, Bahubali, and more big names from the Indian film industry during the South Indian International Movie Awards (SIIMA) in June 2017. Bollywood megastars and celebrities Ranbir Kapoor and Katrina Kaif also recently stayed at hotel, during promotion of their recent film, as did Bollywood singing duo “Salim & Sulaiman,” who performed a concert in the city.
To add another feather in the hotel’s cap, the property will soon open a restaurant run by celebrity chef Kunal Kapoor, of Master Chef India fame, who will surely elevate the Indian cuisine experience in Abu Dhabi to a whole new level.
